Water availability:
Gaub and Witberg springs
Wildlife: Mountain Zebra, Klipspringer, Baboons
Markings: NOT well marked - only at intersections.
ROUTE:
Begin at drop off point (above Witberg Canyon).
Proceed down the ravine and head toward Witberg Spring
(± 500 m). Markers (poles) near the end will
lead you into the river bed. Turn LEFT and walk in a northerly
direction. The Canyon meanders for about 4,5 km. After
2,5 hours you should be at the intersection at the Gaub.
(The last kilometer of the trail is characterized by narrow
gorges and rocky ravines.) At the intersection turn RIGHT.
After 10 minutes you should be at the Rock Pools.
GETTING BACK: Head off in a westerly direction, pass the
Witberg intersection and after 20 minutes you should
arrive at the Ubib/ Gaub intersection. - turn LEFT
and head in a southerly direction. The first 500 m have
a few climbs and narrow gorges to negotiate. 1 hour 15
minutes later you should reach a track crossing the river.
Turn RIGHT, proceed uphill and on top radio the Lodge.
