Wildlife: Klipspringer, Springbok, Mountain Zebra,
abundant bird life.
ROUTE:
Starting at the Lodge, proceed up the hill and
pass the water reservoir follow the yellow markings.
Near the bottom of the ravine turn RIGHT (arrows) and
walk up the ridge. The trail leads you over the escarpment
onto the plain. Pole pointers will guide you across the
plain to a big dried out tree. Cross the sand track
at the tree and head in an easterly direction. A rock
resembling a shipwreck is a good viewing point.
From there, the path takes you up a incline to a big cave.
(It is believed that eagles used to nest here.) The trail
veers off to the RIGHT of the structure and then up onto
a SADDLE. At the top of the saddle you will be welcomed
by an awesome view of the Ubib Canyon. The trail leads
off LEFT down a decline and meanders down into the canyon.
Turn LEFT and stay in the riverbed for 45 to 60 minutes
until you see a big arrow on the LEFT.
Follow the path up the ravine for ± 100 m. From
there the trail leads you onto a track, turn LEFT and
back to the tree at the sandy track cross over
point (± 3 km) head back over the plain back to
the Lodge.
